The clandestine underground tunnel system, Manzana de Las Luces, is a fantastic example of 17th century architecture. One of the most important museums in Argentina's history, the National History museum was once the summer home of the Italian Lezama family. The museum's 33 rooms and three galleries show off Argentinean tell-tale artifacts. Personal belongings from explorers and conquerors are the highlight of the collection. Items such as swords, Juan de Garay's land maps, Spanish flags captured in the Suipacha Battle and in Montevideo in 1814, uniforms, and furniture of Gral. Built by Jesuits in 1734, the Parroquia San Pedro Telmo has a statue of Saint Pedro Telmo and two important bell towers.
