A visit to Las Violets is an excellent chance to see Buenos Aires' traditional antique decor and stained-glass. Las Violets is a stunning Buenos Aires cafe where visitors can dine on beef, pork, poultry and fish dishes or choose from the delicious pastry platters available for breakfast. We recommend the mini-sandwiches, and pan-dulce pastries. Subte : Castro Barros Linea A

This building once known as the "Mercado,” was the main supplier and distributer of produce in Buenos Aires. Now, transformed into a shopping mall, the art deco style on the outside of the former Mercado is still intact while a new illumination system highlights details such as arches in the external façades. The Abasto Shopping Mall has four levels, more than 250 stores, a large food court, 12 movie theatres, and a Children´s museum. This is an excellent place to spend a rainy day. El Molino (The Windmill) was commissioned in 1915 by famous confectioner Cayetano Brenna. Italian architect Francisco Gianotti was chosen to design the building that was one of the highest buildings in the city with a corner turret with stained glass window and windmill sails. Galería Güemes, also built by Gianotti, and El Molino stand as classic examples of Art Nouveau architecture in Buenos Aires.

We recommend an evening of tango at Café Los Angelitos on the corner of Rivadavia and Rincón. In the past this cafe was a meeting place for poets and musicians. It façade is decorated with angels and it can certainly be described as one of Abasto’s landmarks. Subte : Pasco Linea A
